A Tinker's Rhapsody

(George W. proposes a tax cut ] February 2001)

Now listen Congress, listen good,
A tax cut's on the way,
It's for the nation's good ya hear:
Don't none a ya say nay.

'Dem stinking liberals bitch and moan
About their future fears,
But I just need the short-term play:
Look good for four more years.

Social Security, what is that?
Take it off the statute book.
I place my security in the Lord
And daddy's pocket book.

I don't give a goddamn hoot
If poor folks miss the bus.
They ain't a hill of beans to me
With less net worth than us.

Let's subsidize the oil guys,
Let's build a long pipeline,
Don't worry 'bout the environment,
My ranches smell just fine.

Education's my priority,
Our kids should read and write
And I am here to set an example:
I am a shining light.

I'm gonna blaze a trail ya know,
Take lots of southern trips,
I'll pass a tax you'll never forget,
I'll do it, read my lips!
