SomeAntics

Benjamin Franklin, timeless sage,
Seeing through the follies of his age,
Noted that lawyers, dreaming on fees,
Twist words and meanings as they please.

Therefore the White House legal team,
In sanctioning a wicked scheme,
Pressed Britain's Attorney-General
To make a dutiful reversal.

Thus Peter Goldsmith, bought by gold,
Let his legal judgment be sold
Who first said to invade Iraq
Would be an unlawful attack

In the world's eyes, but changed his mind,
Obedience purchased, pockets lined,
Forging across the Atlantic sea
A fawning false fraternity:

Breakers of International Law,
The advocates of "Shock and Awe,"
Sons of Satan (Father of Lies),
Whose servants pose in Christian guise,

Since when more U.S. "justices,"
Appointed for their prejudice,
Countenance continuity
In fixing facts round policy.

What would Ben Franklin have to say
About the lawyers of today,
Except they prove, by love of bribe,
They always were a murderous tribe?
