Ode to Nan Min - X

(Sonnet)

New heavens and new earth are promised man [1]
To compensate him for that Paradise
Lost when the first man his first reign began,
The witting usherer of sin's device.
So I, who Eden lost, even a wife
(Like Orpheus, who cast the backward glance),
Rejoice at this my resurrected life,
An Adam born again to second chance.
Now let the music of the spheres console,
Healing the sorrow Memory rehearse
As David's harp that quelled the troubled soul,
And thou redeem me of the primal curse.
I prophesy this that thou mayst believe,
My new-made Paradise, my second Eve.

[1]      Isaiah 65:17
