Ode to Nan Min - VI

By now, the Philadelphienne has scored
And reached a climax marked by double-X.
Thus is the poet’s prowess underscored
Prolifically advancing on your sex.

But she has not too easily induced
My outpouring of unchecked quantity.
Five odes have by her fair hand been produced
Under the heading of her Roman V.

With such incentive I could not resist
From showering her with copious, head-borne gift.
My pen must exercise and not desist,
For by her ministry my spirits lift.

But different motivation comes from thee,
Inspiring all a mortal’s working could.
Not laboring for my love, you passively
Exemplify the love of womanhood,

Which I to win, with diligence apply
To thee who art my artist’s conduit.
Fear not the Philadelphienne’s reply:
She’s amply proved that she can handle it.
