Noddy's New Adventure
(on George W. Bush's proposed Budget February 2002)
Noddy his second budget has proposed,
How Toyland's treasury should be disposed
On new armadas, squadrons, legions, tanks.
For such largesse the Pentagon gives thanks
To make red, white and blue engender dread
Though putting us entirely in the red.
Two trillion spent on Toyland's military toys
Is Noddy's pleasure (for boys will be boys).
Even the increase overspends Japan,
Ranked second in the military van,
And by our nation's total underlined,
We match the next 15 countries combined.
Mere pledges of restraint are swept aside
But none in Congress dare resist the tide.
Failing to undermine Noddy's design,
The toothless democrats lack balls and spine.
For Counterterrorism's clarion call
Shall countenance the sin and thrift appall.
Under this cover is the chief released.
Will no-one rid us of this spendthrift priest
Of debt, this thinly veiled profligate,
Sin masquerading as a patriot?
This puffed-up prince of privilege and pride
Would reap, thereby, the harvest he supplied.
For terrorism acts against the land,
Let him be cuffed and shackled, hand to hand.
Him with America's foes, "detainees" all,
At infamous Guantanamo install,
Blindfolded in a cage as dogs are kept,
To storms exposed in friendless lands windswept,
And with him, languishing in bindings tied,
Let Noddy's Enron chums be chained beside.
