Metrocard Blues

(a rap song)

My train is a-coming
But where's my card?
I fumble in my pocketbook,
Search real hard.

I swipe it in the turnstile,
I need to proceed.
I can't slow down
My New York speed

But "Swipe Again"
Is all I see,
The blue display
Now mocking me.

Why does this slit here
Oh so cold
Spurn the prowess
Of my swipe so bold?

(Refrain)
Too fast too slow
Too high too low,
I can't swipe my Metrocard,
I can't go.

The tokens that once
Did serve me well
Are now obsolete
By Technology's spell.

My train is a-coming
But the way is barred
Despite all this hype
About the MTA's card.

(Refrain)
Too fast too slow
Too high too low,
I can't swipe my Metrocard
I can't go.

Too fast too slow
Too high too low,
I can't swipe my Metrocard
I can't go.
