Leviathan

Behold the blessings of Democracy:
Not to stray far from mediocrity,
The ballot shields us from the worst excess
But curbs Enlightenment its scope to bless.

And yet Executive Orders galore
Give cause to wonder what Congress is for.
When wickedness with such ease is decreed,
Perhaps we are a Monarchy indeed.

A prime example is how Bush has sealed
What Ronald Reagan had ordered revealed:
The presidential papers of his time
When Senior Bush was Reagan's next-in-line.

As Brutus feared the bane of Caesar's whim,
Knowing a crown would put a sting in him,
When power is disjointed from recourse,
Abuse of greatness is the certain course. [1]

Taxing the colonies with distant rule,
We're slavish subjects to a second fool.
The Madness of King George presides again,
Thwarting the efforts of a few good men.
