International Pussycat
(on the cordial relationship between George W. Bush
and Russian president Vladimir Putin)
With misty eyes we read of how our George
His special brand of bonhomie should forge
With Vladimir his Russian counterpart:
"With him it's easy speaking from the heart.
I looked him in the eye and saw his soul:
Very straightforward, trustworthy and whole."
Then Vlad's praises of W. rebound:
"His mental reasoning is deep, profound."
Bush's perception must be quite acute
To overlook how Russian soldiers loot
In Chechnya, a scene of casual slaughter
With terrorism, torments, taunts and torture,
Where disappearances are commonplace
In ethnic cleansing of a troubling race.
A former darling of the KGB,
Vlad came to organize the military
Of carnal, bloody and unnatural acts.
So W. must see beyond mere facts.
A warm and fuzzy feeling should ensue
From international détente of these two.
The fruit of mutual appreciation
Engendering the healing of each nation.
But when the root of mutual collusion
Shall wither, let us reap from disillusion
This consolation, as the planet grieves:
That Bush and Putin are as thick as thieves.
