In Venice

Let's ride the magic gondola
Along the enchanted way
And amble down the lovers' walks
And hear the harpist play.

For down by the brimming river
That coursed through the city's veins
And under the embracing Bridge of Sighs
To shelter from the rains,

We held to each in dreamy bliss
As Heaven enthralled our scene,
And as the clocks stood still to behold,
They wiped our conscience clean

'Till hand in hand on the banks we ran
As the sun pierced through the mist
And over every bridge's span,
We frolicked in our tryst.
