(George
W. reflects on his meeting with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder-March
2000,
and on European complaints about U.S. withdrawal from 'Kyoto Protocol'
on global warming)
"I do not care for Europeans,
Just who do they think they are:
Telling us to cut down our CO2,
That pollution's gone too far?
I'll do what's best for America
And that's for me to know.
If they don't like it, that's tough luck,
They can pack their bags and go!
I can't believe their ingratitude,
I just can't stomach their gall.
Don't they know we won the War for them
When their backs were against the wall?
Those Euros won't tell me what to do
Especially on my soil,
I have some friends to thank back home
By pumping lots more oil."
That German chancellor, who is he
To challenge my Texan clout?
I'm the greatest leader of the free world, you know,
But he is some sour kraut!
I do not care for Ruskies neither
And sent them home as spies.
America's the only moral nation
And all the rest tell lies!
So if they send a missile,
We'll blast it from the sky.
That way they'll know their Commie borscht's
No match for American pie!
Let's stink things up in Europe,
Let's raise a little hell.
We'll be OK, 'cos at this distance,
Who'll notice any smell?"
"But Mr. Bush," Europe's leaders say,
"The nations agreed this pact.
After all these years of negotiation,
You surely won't turn back!
Of the world's toxic vapours,
Your country spews 25 percent.
Will you choose to poison the globe even more
To save a precious cent?
For every U.S. citizen,
You need twice the energy
And twice the emission of greenhouse gases:
What a wasteful legacy!
Your brutal unilateralism
Is sabotage in the extreme.
Provocative and irresponsible,
Why can't you play as a team?"
If anyone in Europe reads this,
Prithee do not suppose
The President speaks for the rest of us
In leadership we chose.
As when a puppy bites the heels
Of a dog more skilled than he
Meets with a sudden flash of teeth
And whimpering is forced to flee,
Let's hope George W. learns his lesson
As the Europe multination
Hits back at U.S. arrogance
With trade retaliation.
The man is an embarrassment
Whose follies make us cringe,
Our representative, our cross to bear,
And clearly missing a hinge.
Puffed up with presidential pomp and pride,
In brief authority dressed,
He murders the English language
Yet thinks we're all impressed.
He wants to tear up our nature preserves
And we must cry 'alas!'
Well that is his prerogative:
He likes his natural gas!
