A Disciple's Dilemma

(Sonnet)

I craved your cradle of citizenship,
America, my genesis of birth,
With the Pledge of Allegiance on my lip.
Now with your people I'm scum of the earth.
My consolation in this appellation
Is that so too were the apostles deemed [1]
Or that, during this hijacking a nation,
I am but slandered while the Lord's blasphemed.
In haughty defamation of God's name,
Your ruler in deceit has come to power,
Supported only by a few, in greed to reign. [2]
The end-time scriptures prophesied this hour.
Until the day hypocrisy's laid bare,
It is my lot Christ's sufferings to share. [3]
