Bush Fire

To plead the cause of thinning forest lands,
Bush mounts the timber stump in Oregon
So he might make of industry's demands
A new Utopia of Joybegone.

Criss-crossing roads through nature's pristine wood,
Destroying habitat of species rare,
He'd let the loggers pillage if they could
'Till floods wash down the landscape stripped and bare.

In order to forestall the forest fire,
He advocates some trees should be removed,
But on this slippery slope, his aim entire,
Is one Final Solution be approved.

While he hugs chainsaws in the unspoiled West,
Let me suggest a worthy cause to push:
To put deforestation fears to rest,
Instead of felling redwoods, clear the Bush.
