August-us

(regarding G-8 summit meeting in Germany, June 6-8, 2007)

While Rome burned, Emperor Nero "fiddled," Legend says,
enraptured by the beauty of the flames. Two-thirds
of the imperial city then went up in smoke.
Today, the G-8 summit leaders, with a word

Burning the world, "consider" caps on gas emissions.
But this Gaggle of Eight cap not their own hot air,
These bloody Neroes ripping up the womb of Earth
Show empty words are evil, as Homer declared.
