An Asses' Law

(on legal efforts to enact another delay of terrorist bomber's execution)

The murderer's execution has been stayed
In waiting for some paperwork to come.
Why? Might new evidence our minds persuade
To cut back on the body count by one?
Is some new startling revelation there
To make less cruel a foul atrocity?
Or is the verdict somehow made unfair
By absence of a legal nicety?
Those lawyers charge the FBI with fraud
And to "promote integrity" they file.
Though 'tis the wont of bureaucrats to hoard,
That doesn't make the criminal less vile.
He has his violence to the world proclaimed,
So why protect him who has mankind maimed?
